Meanwhile, in the life of Vasily Kandinsky

The whole life
  1. 1922–1933

    Employed by: Bauhaus

  2. 1930s

    The Nazis confiscate the “Compositions”

A Nazi raid on the Bauhaus led to the confiscation of Kandinsky's first three “Compositions”, all of which were destroyed in World War II. His work was also caught up in the campaign against “degenerate art”; his now-lost “Zweierlei Rot” (1916) was shown in the Degenerate Art exhibition.

  3. 1932

The Bauhaus leaves Dessau for Berlin

After a Nazi smear campaign the Bauhaus left Dessau for Berlin, where it remained until its dissolution in July 1933.

  4. 1933

    Leaves Germany for Paris

When the Nazis, now in power, closed the Bauhaus, Kandinsky left Germany and settled in Paris.
