    A Journey Cut Short by the First World War

    He toured Monte Carlo and Rome, where he was especially drawn to Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican; at St. Moritz the journey was cut short by the outbreak of the First World War, whose beginning Corinth welcomed.

  2. 1915

    Re-elected Chairman of the Secession

    He was again elected chairman of the Berlin Secession and remained the association's president until 1925.

  3. March 1918

    60th-Birthday Exhibition and the Title of Professor

    The Berlin Secession devoted an exhibition of 140 oil paintings to Corinth on his 60th birthday; the Berlin Academy of Arts conferred on him the title of professor, and the National Gallery began assembling a systematic collection of his works.
