  1. 1995–2000

    Trustee of the Tate Gallery

    From 1995 to 2000 Doig serves as a trustee of the Tate Gallery.

  2. 2000

    Invited to an artist's residency in Trinidad

    Doig is invited to return to Trinidad to take up an artist's residency alongside his friend and fellow painter Chris Ofili.

  3. 2002

    Back to Trinidad: a studio near Port of Spain

    Doig settles in Trinidad with his family, where he will live until 2021, and sets up a studio at the Caribbean Contemporary Arts Centre near Port of Spain.

  4. 2003

    A solo exhibition at the Bonnefanten Museum

    The Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht holds a major solo exhibition of Doig's work.

  5. 2003

    The StudioFilmClub in his studio

    Together with the Trinidadian artist Che Lovelace, Doig starts a weekly film club: he selects and screens the films himself and paints a poster for each week's film. He finds the project liberating because it is much more immediate than his usual work.

  6. 2004

    A solo exhibition at the Pinakothek der Moderne

    The Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich holds a major solo exhibition of Doig's work.
