About the painting

Gracefully arranged against an open background, clusters of narcissus bloom beside fantastically shaped lingzhi fungus, creating a composition

of elegant balance and refinement. The leaf reflects the polished aesthetic cultivated within the Qing imperial court, while both plants carry rich symbolic meaning. Blooming around the Lunar New Year, the narcissus signifies renewal, harmony, purity, and auspicious beginnings. Lingzhi, the legendary “fungus of immortality, ” has long been associated with longevity, health, and an age of peace and good governance. Together they form an auspicious pairing that conveys blessings for prosperity, harmony, and a long life.
