Begins working in stone
From 1987 he worked in solid quarried stone, carving apertures and cavities into it and playing with dualities such as earth and sky, matter and spirit, lightness and darkness.
1990
Venice Biennale and the Premio Duemila
Represented Britain at the 44th Venice Biennale and won the Premio Duemila; this showing brought him widespread recognition.
