    The etching series "La Tauromaquia"

    He created a new series of 33 etchings on bullfighting, "La Tauromaquia," published in Madrid in 1816.

    Grave illness

    In early 1820 he fell seriously ill; on 4 April he attended a session of the Academy for the last time.

  5. 1824

    Emigration to France, move to Bordeaux

    Fearing persecution by Spain's new government, he left for France with Leocadia Weiss and her daughter Rosarito; in May, under the pretext of taking the waters, he moved to Bordeaux.

  6. summer 1824

    Trip to Paris

    In the summer of 1824 he was in Paris, where he created "The Bullfight" and portraits of his friends Joaquín Ferrer and his wife.
