In the life of Gerard van Honthorst
The whole life1635–1652
Opens a second studio in The Hague
Honthorst was so popular in the Netherlands that he opened a second studio in The Hague, where he painted portraits of members of the court and taught drawing; in his large studios many pupils and assistants also made replicas of his royal portraits.
1649
Paints in the Huis ten Bosch palace
Honthorst took part in decorating the country palace of Huis ten Bosch and carried out commissions for the King of Denmark; other accounts place his scenes of Danish history around 1631.
1652
Settles back in Utrecht for good
In 1652 Honthorst returned to Utrecht, where he died a few years later.
