Über die Skulptur

This is one of a number of stucco and terracotta versions (one in the Mellon Collection, National Gallery of Art, Washington) of the same composition, which may depend from a lost original in marble. The composition is a later work of Antonio Rossellino and close in date to the tomb of Mary of Aragon at Naples and the Nori Madonna in Santa Croce, Florence.
