Über die Skulptur

This alabaster panel represents the assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven after her death. The Virgin is shown with her hands folded together standing in a mandorla upheld by six angels, four of whom are flying. St Thomas is shown kneeling in the bottom left of the panel, holding the Virgin's girdle. Above the three persons of the Trinity, enthroned, place a crown on the Virgin's head. The crown is also held by two angels and four more angels appear behind the Trinity and another by the Virgin's feet.
