1933–1955
Teaching at the Art Students League
Grosz teaches at the Art Students League of New York until 1955; his students include Romare Bearden, who was influenced by his collage style, Joseph Glasco and Robert Cenedella, whom he mentored from 1957 to 1959.
1946
The autobiography “A Little Yes and a Big No”
Grosz publishes his autobiography, Ein kleines Ja und ein großes Nein, first translated as A Little Yes and a Big No.
1947–1959
Huntington: teaching at the Art League
From 1947 to 1959 Grosz lives in Huntington, New York, where he teaches painting at the Huntington Township Art League.
1950
Elected to the National Academy of Design
Grosz is elected an Associate Academician of the National Academy of Design.
1950s
A private art school and a residency in Des Moines
Grosz opens a private art school at his home and also works as Artist in Residence at the Des Moines Art Center.
