This wax model is by an unknown artist made ca. 1600-1625 in Florence.
It represents a kneeling friar, depicted wearing a Franciscan habit kneeling on a rock, with the right forearm raised. The head, left hand and part of the right hand are missing. The figure is broken and repaired across the right elbow, waist and left shoulder.
It was formerly in the Gherardini Collection of artists’ terracotta and wax models. Acquired in 1854
