About the sculpture
Gu Yue’s work is characterised by the playful, vigorous depiction of animals and plants, showing influence from the folk-art style on Cizhou wares, which had been made since the Song dynasty (960–1279). Summer comes from a new series which attempts to incorporate Gu Yue’s unique painting with sculpture: combining the two-dimensional with three-dimensional forms.
