About the sculpture
This relief plaque of ivy was purchased from the exhibitor at the South London Working Classes Exhibition of 1869. This exhibition is presumably the one that opened on 1 March 1869 at the Hall in Westminster Bridge Road. The exhibitors were amateurs, seeking pleasure and satisfaction rather than profit.
