This pencil sketch of Henry Irving by the artist A.M.Freeman which formed part of a set of sketches of the actor collected in a scrapbook.
This image shows Henry Irving as he appeared in the role of The Master of Ravenswood in Ravenswood by Herman Merivale. Merivale's play was a dramatic version of Sir Walter Scott's novel Bride of Lammermoor and the production of Ravenswood premiered at the Lyceum in 1890 and ran until 1892.
