About the sculpture
The crucified Christ is shown with his eyes and mouth open, and legs uncrossed; the arms have been carved separately. In style this resembles South Netherlandish figures of the early 1700s. It is comparable to two other ivory Christs in the collection: 362-1901 and 449-1895.
