Antonio de Puga (1602–1648) was a Spanish painter born in Ourense who worked in Madrid and died there. Museums from the Hermitage and the Getty to Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Slovak National Gallery, the Musée Goya in Castres and the Art Institute of Chicago hold eight of his paintings. Most are scenes of ordinary people: the Hermitage's Knife Grinder of 1635 and Old Man Teaching a Boy to Read of 1640, an old woman seated, an oil seller, a boy with an orange blossom. There is also a man in armour. One is on display.
