English landscape in watercolour and oil occupied Peter De Wint (1784–1849), a British painter born in Stone, Staffordshire, who died in London. Of his 159 works in museums, many are views of the English countryside: A Meadow with Cattle near Glastonbury, Evening on the Foss Dyke near Lincoln, A View near Lowther and a Landscape Study at Sunset from about 1835. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Rijksmuseum, Tate and the Yale Center for British Art hold the most. Three are on display.
