Jan Mandijn (1500–1560), a Renaissance painter born in Haarlem, worked in Antwerp and died there. Seven of his works are in the Hermitage, the Kupferstich-Kabinett in Dresden, Vienna, the Alte Pinakothek in Munich and Valenciennes. His subjects are fantastic: two versions of the Temptation of Saint Anthony, Saint Christopher of about 1530, and the Hermitage's landscape with the legend of Saint Christopher; two drawings show monsters. One of them is on view.
