A British painter and printmaker, John Piper (1903–1992) was born in Epsom and studied at the Royal College of Art. Museums hold 45 works across painting and graphic media. His drawings include Windsor Castle and Rievaulx Abbey, Yorkshire, both dated 1942. The Minneapolis Institute of Art and New York’s Museum of Modern Art hold the largest groups.
