Sull’opera

Con le parole del museo — in olandese

De gevleugelde Faam (Fama) blaast op haar twee bazuinen. Zo verkondigt zij de roem van veldheren en filosofen uit het verleden. In haar stoet lopen Alexander de Grote, Julius Caesar, Cato en Plato. De wielen van haar wagen zijn versierd met tongen, oren en ogen om de roem te verbreiden. Faam overwint de Dood; hij wordt jammerlijk verpletterd onder de poten van de olifanten. Op de achtergrond staan twee obelisken, monumenten die ter ere van beroemde personen werden opgericht. Onder de voorstelling een verklarende tekst in het Latijn.
