Sull’opera

Con le parole del museo — in olandese

Op een zegewagen troont Cupido. Zijn wagen voert Jupiter mee, het prototype van de echtbreker en veroveraar. Voor de wagen wandelen klassieke dichters die over de liefde schreven: Marcellus, Ovidius en Tibullus. Naast de wagen volgen slachtoffers van de liefde: Salomo, Hercules, Piramus en Thisbe. De stoet is op weg naar de tempel van de liefdesgodin Venus, links op de achtergrond. De prent heeft een Latijns onderschrift en is een deel van de serie over de triomfen van Petrarca.
