In 1662 and again in 1663 Ostade is recorded as dean (warden) of the Guild of Saint Luke in Haarlem.

Widowed a second time
In 1666 Ostade was widowed once again.

Attempted flight to Lübeck in the "year of disaster"
In 1672 (the "rampjaar") Ostade packed up his belongings intending to flee to Lübeck, but got only as far as Amsterdam, where the collector Constantijn Sennepart persuaded him to stay. In his house the artist created a series of colored drawings, later bought by Jonas Witsen for 1,300 florins.
