Rechts de heren van Couvonge en van Chalabre, verkleed als Minos en Rhadamanthys, broers en rechters in de onderwereld. Voor hen een vuurspuwende draak, furiën en de driekoppige hellehond Cerberus. Bovenin de voorstelling een opschrift in het Frans. Deze prent is onderdeel van een serie illustraties voor een boek over de festiviteiten (o.a. een toernooi) in het hertogelijk paleis te Nancy op 14 februari 1627. Deze specifieke prent is echter nooit in dat boek opgenomen, vanwege verkeerde afmetingen; hiervoor in de plaats maakte Callot een nieuwe versie van de juiste grootte.

Declines to serve Louis XIII
King Louis XIII of France offers Callot a place at his court, but the artist declines; by one account, as a patriot of Lorraine he could not forgive the king for the devastation of his homeland by French troops.
