À propos de l’œuvre

Nakahashi used photography to capture the ebb and flow of everyday urban life while traveling across the United States. He was particularly attentive to unconventional subjects or odd juxtapositions, as seen in this image of a well-dressed gentleman giving an amplified sidewalk speech in downtown Chicago, a stack of leaflets at the ready. Though we’re left to guess the advocate’s cause, Nakahashi found humor in the array of portable boom box music players in the storefront display, a fitting backdrop for this impromptu performance.
