Dans la vie de Armand Guillaumin
La vie entière1890s
A bolder palette: a Fauve before Fauvism
By the 1890s his palette has grown even bolder and less faithful to nature — he was a Fauve a decade before Fauvism; Othon Friesz was guided by his advice and example, so Guillaumin influenced the rise of Fauvism.
1893–1913
Travels around France for new subjects
In 1893–1913 he paints in the Creuse, Crozant, Agay, the Auvergne, the departments of Orne and Eure, Louen and Rouen; works of these years include “The Hamlet of Péchadoire” and “Landscape at Agay” (both 1895) and “The Mill at Bouchardon” (1905).

A large solo exhibition at the Galeries Durand-Ruel in Paris.
1897
Solo exhibition at Vollard's
A large solo exhibition at Galerie Ambroise Vollard in Paris.
