    A job at the Paris–Orléans railway company

    Takes a job at the Paris–Orléans railway company but does not give up art and soon begins attending the Académie Suisse.

    Studying at the Académie Suisse, he meets Camille Pissarro and Paul Cézanne, with whom he will maintain lifelong friendships, and Francisco Oller.

    The “Salon des Refusés” with Manet, Pissarro and Cézanne

    Exhibits at the famous Salon des Refusés alongside Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro and Paul Cézanne, although the works of Guillaumin (and Cézanne) were not listed under his name.

    Leaves his job for painting; hard times

    Leaves his job to devote himself entirely to painting but is in need and earns his living by painting window blinds.
