    Moves to Paris and meets Mondrian

    In 1924 Arp moved to Paris, where he met Piet Mondrian, joined the Surrealist circle and was close to abstraction.

  2. 1925

    The first Surrealist exhibition at the Galerie Pierre

    In 1925 Arp’s work appeared in the first exhibition of the Surrealist group at the Galerie Pierre in Paris.

  3. 1926

    French citizenship and a move to Meudon

    In 1926 Arp and his wife, the Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp, became French nationals; the same year Arp moved to the Paris suburb of Meudon.
