La vie entière1453
His sister Nicolosia marries Mantegna

The first firm date: a witness before a notary
On 9 April 1459 Giovanni is named as a witness in the records of the Venetian notary Giuseppe Moisis; he already lives on his own in the San Lio quarter but still works in his father's workshop, helping with the largest commissions.

His mother's will: Giovanni stays out
In November 1471 Anna Rinversi, by now Jacopo's widow, arranges the transfer of his estate to Nicolò, Gentile and Nicolosia; Giovanni declines to take part in the will — to some scholars an indirect sign that he was Gentile's half-brother.
1475
Antonello da Messina in Venice
In 1475 Antonello da Messina arrives in Venice and meets Giovanni Bellini; Antonello's oil-painting methods are visible in many of Bellini's later works.
