    Awards at the Paris Exposition Universelle

    At the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris, Night, Eurythmy and Day won awards. Hodler was invited to join both the Berlin and the Vienna Secessions.

  2. November 1900

    A postage stamp design

    In November 1900 Federal Councillor Zemp, head of the postal and railway department, launched a competition for a new Swiss postage stamp; Hodler anonymously sent in a design showing a Fribourg herdsman, which was used 35 years later in the 1936 Pro Patria block.

  3. 1904

    31 works in Vienna: fame and an end to poverty

    In 1904 Hodler showed 31 works in Vienna; the exhibition brought him wide recognition, and its sales success finally freed him from poverty.
