Cleveland, Estados Unidos
Pertenece a la colección, pero ahora mismo no está expuesta.
This somber painting is likely inspired by Wilcox’s visit to St. Malo, France, in 1925. During this third trip to Europe, the artist was interested in oil painting but still completed several watercolors, which were faster to create. This speed worked in Wilcox’s favor when capturing light and weather conditions, such as the overcast sky pictured here. St. Malo attracted many artists during this period due to its walled city, coastal landscape, and inhabitants, some of whom are depicted wearing traditional attire in this image.
