Sobre la escultura

This plaque of mother of pearl showing the Crucifixion, is carved in low relief with Christ on the Cross between the Virgin and St. John the Evangelist.

Within a plain narrow border is the Crucified Christ, an INRI label is above His head mounted on the Cross. To the right and left above are the sun and moon, while at the foot of the Cross is a skull.

INRI is the acronym for Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, which is Latin for Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.
