About the sculpture
This object is part of a series by the artist inspired by Chinese calligraphy. In this work, the individual brushstrokes are no longer visible but disappear into fluid ink that coveres the surface. The idea of reaching a state of void and emptiness, where words no longer exist, resonates with the ideals sought after by Chinese scholars when practising calligraphy. This work also exemplifies the artist's attitude to life and art.
