The whole life1955–1965
Her health declines
Lange’s health declined in the last decade of her life; among other conditions she suffered from what was later identified as post-polio syndrome.

A journey around the world with her husband
From 1958 Lange set off on a journey around the world with her second husband, Paul Taylor.
1960
The Monticello series at the Art Institute of Chicago
The Monticello work was shown at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1960.

Helps to curate her MoMA retrospective
Shortly before her death Lange helped curate a retrospective of her work for the Museum of Modern Art in New York; it opened three months after she died and was MoMA’s first solo retrospective of a woman photographer.

Dies of oesophageal cancer
Lange died in San Francisco at the age of seventy; she was survived by her second husband, the economist Paul Schuster Taylor, two children and three stepchildren.
