    Penck is awarded the Aachen Art Prize for 1985.

    Professor of painting in Düsseldorf

    The same year he is appointed professor of painting at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf. Among his students are Antje Dorn, Susanne Themlitz, Joanna Danovska, Yoshitomo Nara, Marta Klonowska, Gesine Kikol and Andrea C. Hoffer.

  4. late 1980s

    Free jazz: Triple Trip Touch

    A keen drummer, Penck is a member and co-founder, with Frank Wollny, of the free jazz group Triple Trip Touch (T.T.T.), and in the late 1980s has the opportunity to play with some of the best jazz musicians of the time, including Butch Morris, Frank Wright, Billy Bang, Louis Moholo and Frank Lowe.
