In this pair of studio photographs, Nakahashi posed the following question: does time have weight? Despite his objective visual “evidence, ” it’s a humorously absurd notion. We assume photography documents reality, but reality can be manipulated. In this way, Nakahashi played with our understanding of time and its assumed objectivity. According to the artist, the photographs examine the idea of mistakes and misunderstandings: Time (A) is right, Time (B) is wrong. Though not considered desirable things, mistakes and misunderstandings were to Nakahashi integral parts of everyday life.
