About the sculpture

This is a group made in Germany in about 1868. This group is in boxwood and represents the Crucifixion. It was bought as a 'copy of a German original of the 15th century', and was probably produced by Nikolaus Elscheidt (1835-1874), a specialist in small-scale sculpture in the Gothic style.
