Accuses Warhol and Oldenburg of borrowing
In the early 2000s Kusama accused Andy Warhol of plagiarism: when he papered the walls of the Leo Castelli Gallery with silkscreen posters of a cow’s head, that was, she said, mere appropriation or imitation of her “Thousand Boats Show”. Claes Oldenburg, she said, imitated her too: his wife Pat took her aside and said, “Yayoi, forgive us!”
