  1. 1975

    First New York and the São Paulo Biennale

    In 1975 Baselitz visited New York for the first time and worked there for two weeks; he also went to Brazil, where he took part in the 13th São Paulo Biennale.

  2. 1976–1987

    Studios in Florence and near Arezzo

    In 1976 Baselitz rented a studio in Florence, which he used until 1981; in 1981 he set up another in Castiglion Fiorentino, near Arezzo, which he kept until 1987.

  4. 1978

    Professor at the Karlsruhe academy

    Baselitz began teaching at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, where he was appointed professor in 1978.
