About the work
Self-portrait of the artist, Jess, and their partner, Vanessa, both nude in bed. Vanessa lies on their side in the fetal position; Jess is positioned behind, wrapping an arm around Vanessa's torso and gripping the side of their thigh. Tattoos on Jess's arm are visible: one reading "LOVER" and another of a large-format camera with bellows. Vanessa's head rests on a pillow, eyes closed; Jess leans in, nuzzling close to Vanessa's cheek, eyes open and gazing at them.
