About the work

Best known as a painter of landscapes and Minneapolis neighborhoods, Eric Erickson was also an accomplished printmaker, working in etching, lithography, and woodcut. Trained at the WPA Art Center in Minneapolis and later at the Art Students League in New York—where he studied under fellow Minnesotan Cameron Booth and the famed German Expressionist Max Beckmann—Erickson returned to Minnesota in 1951, where he established himself as a fixture of the Twin Cities art community, influential for his dual roles as a painter and practicing artist.
