"Legends from the Life of an Artist" and the textbook "The Learning of Painting," introducing the reader to painting and its techniques, were published.

Elected Head of the Berlin Secession
After the resignation of president Max Liebermann and the members of the board, Lovis Corinth was elected the association's new head.

Stroke and Partial Paralysis
Corinth suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed on one side; with his wife's help he began painting with his right hand again within a year, and his style took on Expressionist qualities.
