Dibujo alusivo a Las cuarenta horas representando una escena con varias figuras femeninas sentadas en sillas bajas formando semicírculo. Las cabezas veladas. A los pies de las figuras de los extremos, sendos cestos sobre el suelo. De pie, en el centro un religioso ataviado con hábito negro. De fondo, rasguños que insinúan el interior de una iglesia con puerta abierta en el centro y un pilar en el lateral izquierdo. En el reverso, notas manuscritas por Sorolla con diversas direcciones y nombres.

    Returns to Valencia to marry Clotilde

    Sorolla returned to Valencia to marry Clotilde García del Castillo; by 1895 they had three children — María, Joaquín and Elena.

    Moves to Madrid: large canvases for the salons

    The family moved to Madrid. For the next decade Sorolla concentrated on large canvases of orientalist, mythological, historical and social subjects for salons and international exhibitions in Madrid, Paris, Venice, Munich, Berlin and Chicago.
