Anverso: Ex voto. Conjunto de ex votos colgados en una pared de forma amontonada. De muy distinta naturaleza, se identifican con claridad dos cartelas y una muleta. Las tenues manchas que se superponen al dibujo pertenecen al dibujo de la hoja anterior, nº Inv. 12046, que se ha copiado por contacto. Reverso: La familia. Escena familiar con tres personajes sentados en torno a una mesa. En primer término figura femenina en pose de tres cuartos a la derecha vista desde atrás, leyendo un diario. A la derecha, en segundo término, otra figura se inclina hacia la mesa sobre la que parece manipular algo. Al fondo asoma la cabeza de una tercera figura, que sostiene un bebé en brazos.

    Sorolla returned to Valencia to marry Clotilde García del Castillo; by 1895 they had three children — María, Joaquín and Elena.

    Moves to Madrid: large canvases for the salons

    The family moved to Madrid. For the next decade Sorolla concentrated on large canvases of orientalist, mythological, historical and social subjects for salons and international exhibitions in Madrid, Paris, Venice, Munich, Berlin and Chicago.
