French fairy-tale books: “Contes de l'Isba” and others
In France fairy-tale books illustrated by Bilibin appeared: Contes de l'Isba (1931), Contes de la couleuvre (1932) and Conte du petit poisson d'or (1933). In emigration he also illustrated the tales of the Brothers Grimm and the Thousand and One Nights.

Master of ceremonies of the Masonic lodge Free Russia
Initiated as a Freemason in the Russian Paris lodge Northern Star, Bilibin became a founding member of another Russian lodge, Free Russia, and in 1932 served as its master of ceremonies.

Returns to the USSR aboard the Ladoga
Bilibin and his family returned to the Soviet Union aboard the motor ship Ladoga and settled in Leningrad; his wife went back to work at the Porcelain Factory.

Professor of graphic art at the Leningrad Institute
Three days after his return Bilibin was appointed professor of graphic art at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the All-Russian Academy of Arts; he held the post until his death, while continuing to work as an illustrator and stage designer.
