About the work
Portrait of the artist's friend Hayden Phipps. He wears a denim shirt with pearl buttons and a short, neatly trimmed beard. Through digital manipulation, the artist converted the color photograph into a black and white image that emphasizes the melanin pigment in the sitter’s skin and highlights blemishes and sun damage.
