The book "Théories"
He published "Théories," a collection of essays tracing the path of art "from Symbolism and Gauguin toward a new classical order"; the book was widely read and exerted a significant influence on young artists.

Purchase of "Le Prieuré" in Saint-Germain-en-Laye
He bought a former 17th-century hospital in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, naming it "Le Prieuré" (The Priory); in 1915–1928, with the help of the architect Perret, he adorned the building with his own frescoes, stained glass and furniture.
