Meanwhile, in the life of Robert Doisneau

The whole life
  1. 1945–1979

Portraits of Picasso, Braque, Léger, Cocteau and Giacometti

From the post-war years through the 1970s Doisneau produced children's books, advertising photography and celebrity portraits — Alberto Giacometti, Jean Cocteau, Fernand Léger, Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso. He worked with writers and poets such as Blaise Cendrars and Jacques Prévert, and credited Prévert with giving him the confidence to photograph everyday street scenes.

  2. 1979

His daughter Annette becomes his assistant

From 1979 until her father's death Annette worked as his assistant.

  3. 1979

    The book “Trois secondes d’éternité”

Contrejour published Doisneau's book “Trois secondes d’éternité” (“Three Seconds of Eternity”).

  4. 1980s

The Lavergnes believe they are the couple in “The Kiss”

Jean and Denise Lavergne, convinced that they were the couple in “The Kiss”, arranged a meeting with Doisneau and his assistant Annette; their belief was not confirmed, but nor were they told otherwise, so as not to shatter the lovers' dream.
