    The “Garden House”: first home and studio

    After his marriage to the painter Anna Brøndum, a Skagen native whose father owned Brøndums Hotel, the couple set up a home and studio in the “Garden House”, which now stands in the garden of the Skagens Museum.

    Move to Markvej, purchase of the house

    After the birth of their daughter Helga in 1883 the family moves to Markvej in Skagen; the Skagen residence of Anna and Michael Ancher is purchased in 1884.
