About the work

De Madroelhaven is een klein haventje in Rotterdam in de provincie Zuid-Holland. Dit haventje ligt aan de zuidkant van de rivier de Nieuwe Maas en ten oosten ligt de Beneluxtunnel. Door uitbreiding van de Beneluxtunnel zal het haventje iets verkleind moeten worden. De voornaamste taak van de Madroelhaven is een ligplaats voor sleepboten. Ook is het stuwadoorbedrijf E.P.S. er gevestigd. Een stuwadoor zorgt voor het laden en lossen van schepen. Dit moet met zorg gebeuren, omdat de lading tijdens de vaart niet mag gaan schuiven. De kwaliteit van het water op de voorgrond is gemiddeld wat Nederlands zwemwater betreft. Hierdoor is het een geliefde plek om te vissen (paling) en te zwemmen.
