Over the next two decades Hopper's health falters, with several prostate surgeries and other medical problems, but in the 1950s and early 1960s he still creates several more major works.

The Edward MacDowell Medal
In 1966 Hopper is awarded the Edward MacDowell Medal by the MacDowell Colony for outstanding contributions to American culture.
